Our Story: From Miami to Daytona Beach

How a South Florida sliding-door technician built OceanView Sliding Doors — and why Daytona Beach became home.

From Technician to Business Owner

Before OceanView Sliding Doors became a business, Everett Callahan was a technician learning the trade one door at a time in South Florida. His days were spent checking worn rollers, working through damaged tracks and finding out why a door that looked perfectly fine had become so difficult to open.

Those early service visits taught him to listen. A homeowner might describe a heavy door, a loose handle or a latch that would only catch if the panel was lifted. Everett learned to look beyond the first symptom, understand the system and explain the repair in straightforward language. He also learned how much the small details mattered once the tools were packed away.

From Miami to Daytona Beach

In 2012, he established OceanView Sliding Doors in Miami. Starting his own business meant taking responsibility for the whole experience: answering the inquiry, planning the visit, finding the appropriate parts, explaining the price and checking the finished work. He wanted to build a company where customers felt comfortable asking questions and understood what they were paying for.

In 2015, Everett moved the business to Daytona Beach. He brought the practical experience he had gained in Miami and began building relationships with homeowners throughout the Daytona area. The work took him from beachside condos and screened pool patios to family homes in quieter neighborhoods, each with its own door system and everyday frustrations.

Over the years, many jobs with homeowners helped turn Daytona into something deeply personal. His connection to the area grew through repeat visits, referrals between neighbors and conversations at front doors. He came to know the community through the people who trusted him to work on their homes.

A note on our roots: Miami is where OceanView began — it is our origin, not a second office or a current service area. Today we work from Daytona Beach and serve the surrounding 75-mile radius.

Meet Everett Callahan

Everett Callahan is the owner behind OceanView Sliding Doors. His story begins as a sliding-door technician in South Florida, followed by establishing the business in Miami in 2012 and moving it to Daytona Beach in 2015. His practical repair background shaped the company's expansion into installations and selected parts sourcing and importing. Through many jobs with homeowners, Daytona became the community he calls home. His approach centers on clear explanations, appropriate repair options and attention to how the door moves, closes and locks.

A short timeline

  • 2012 — OceanView Sliding Doors established in Miami.
  • 2015 — The company moves to Daytona Beach.
  • Today — Sliding door repair, installation, window repair and commercial sliding-door service from the Daytona base.

Repairs, Installations and Parts

Today, Everett sees Daytona as home. It is the place where he chose to build the next chapter of his life and business, and where OceanView's reputation matters to him personally. Every service visit is an opportunity to take care of a property belonging to someone in that community.

As the business developed, its work expanded into sliding door installation. Repair experience helped Everett understand what customers needed from a new system: appropriate sizing, suitable hardware, careful fitting and reliable movement and locking. OceanView now helps customers assess the existing door, explore practical repairs and discuss installation when a new system is the appropriate next step.

Parts became another part of the story. Everett had seen repair work delayed by a missing roller assembly or a difficult-to-find component. He began sourcing and importing selected sliding-door parts, developing a closer connection between the work and the hardware it depends on. The focus is on finding compatible parts for the system being serviced, with their suitability checked before installation.

That experience continues to shape our approach. We assess the fault, explain the findings and discuss the proposed work and price before starting. Repair is considered when it makes practical sense, and replacement is discussed when the condition of the system calls for it. After the work, the relevant movement, closing and locking functions are checked.
